Group AGM 2007 - With food and a Team Quiz  following.

The 2007 AGM of the Southampton Group was  held at 7.00pm, Friday 16th November at Chilworth Village Hall, next to the Chilworth Arms (formerly the Clump Inn),SO16 7JZ, on the A27.
Minutes of 2006 AGM and Officer's reports were attached to the Agenda.
A tribute was paid to Barbara Frost retiring from the committee after several decades in various positions and good wishes were expressed for her move an apartment in the New Forest.
The existing members of the Committee were re-elected with Jackie Blake taking the position of Membership Secretary.

The formal part of the meeting was kept as short as possible.  Refreshments were available of wine, coffee, tea, squash, biscuits, nibbles and a warm meat/vegetarian pasty.    A fun quiz with prizes  followed the meeting. Teams were drawn from the hat on the night.

Crops obstructing Rights of Way.

Farmers/landowners have a duty to prevent a crop (other than grass) from making a path difficult to find or follow. Although most farmers are co-operative and reinstate the line of the path, some are not and Hampshire CC RoW Department are considering taking persistent offenders to court.

If you know of any persistent offender, please give path details to David Law, who will investigate and pass on the case to the Hants RoW section for their consideration.

Opportunity for new leaders.

We the members of the Group owe our gratitude to the leaders who provide the walks for this programme. Many of us like the shorter and medium distance walks, for which we do have a need for more leaders. These lengths of walk are ideal for trying out walk leading.

If you have a favourite walk or two, which you would like to share, why not give leading a try? Members of the committee or regular walk leaders will be happy to give advice.

If you would like help with walking out or with map reading, make this known to a committee member.
